In a joint statement, the teachers said a vested quarter tends to confuse the nation by giving false interpretation of the constitution on caretaker government.

They said one who is eligible for the post of the chief of the caretaker government as per the constitution should be appointed for the greater interest of the country.

The statement also urged the President to prove his political sagacity by appointing the last retired chief justice as chief of the caretaker government.

The signatories to the statement included Prof Anwarullah Chowdhury, Prof Aminur Rahman Majumder, Prof Mohammad Nurul Islam, Prof Shamsuddin Ahmed, Prof Sadrul Amin and Prof Salehin Kadri.
