Programme to detect breast cancer from Sept 24
Bangladesh Cancer Foundation Hospital (BCFH) in collaboration with Medinova Medical Services and Anwara Diagnostic Centre is organising the pogramme for the second time.
According to the organisers, the screening package programme would offer physical examination of possible growth or development of cancer tissues in breast by a trained female medical officer to be followed by a consultation from a surgical oncologist in suspected cases.
The package would cost each applicant only Tk 100 as registration fees.
Those who would require further advanced diagnostic investigations like mamogram, ultrasonogram and cytology (FNAC) can avail investigations at 30 percent discount to confirm malignancy or existence of cancerous tissue in breasts.
Those detected as breast cancer patient may take advantages of chemotherapy infusion and cancer surgery at 50 percent discount at the centre during the programme.
Earlier the foundation, a private cancer hospital operating under a trust, organised a similar breast and cervix cancer screening programme from August 22 27 and August 27 September 01, 2005.
The study showed that out of all female cancer cases about 25 percent are said to have developed breast cancer, next to cervical cancer, in the country.
It also revealed that most of the detected cases were in advanced stage when doctors can do very little to help minimise the sufferings.
The BCFH is located at 2/8A Road 3, Block A, Lalmatia. For further information patients can contact the hospital over the telephones 911-6216 or 811-8138.
