'Promote supportive culture to stop repression on women'

They also suggested that the practice of such supportive culture must begin at home.

The meeting was organised by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad at Sufia Kamal auditorium in the city as part of its fortnight-long programme to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25.

Speaking on the occasion Ayesha Khanam, general secretary of the Parishad, said adolescent and young women are the victims of eve teasing in different ways at home, society and workplace.

She emphasised the need for a culture against repression on women to stop eve teasing and establish human rights for women.

Mirza Taslima Sultana, assistant professor, and Sayema Khatun, lecturer of anthropology department at Jahangirnagar University, jointly presented a paper titled, 'When Adam is problematic: Harassment of Eve'.
