Qualifications@UK Fair 2005 held in Sylhet

A day-long fair styled as 'Qualifications@UK Fair 2005' was held on the Metropolitan University campus in Sylhet city yesterday.

Organised by the British Council, the fair drew hundreds of students who wants to pursue higher studies in the UK. As many as 22 British institutions took part in the fair.

The organisers said the fair was geared towards bringing together education providers from the UK and Bangladesh and helping the students choose the right institution.

British Council Country Director Dr June Rollinson, Prof Md Habibur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the Metropolitan University Prof Kabir Chowdhury addressed the inaugural ceremony.

They called on the students to select the right institution before going abroad for education.

June Rollinson said the British Council has been working to enhance the skills of the English language teachers in Bangladesh.

The Council also helps the genuine students get admitted to quality institutions in the UK, she said.
