Rash Mela begins today
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), coast guards, police and forest guards have been deployed to maintain law and order and to resist poaching.
Members of law enforcing agencies are on watch at 100 points of Sundarbans where poachers and pirates gather every year.
Eight special river routes have been marked for the people bound for Rash Mela.
Carrying firearms, explosive substances and sharp weapons have been banned by authorities of Sundarbans Forest Division for security reason.
According to forest department officials, tourists and pilgrims from India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Pakistan visit Rash Mela.
