'Re-fix polls day'
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad requested the Election Commission, political parties and caretaker government to re-fix the election date as it coincides with Saraswati Puja, one of the major religious festivals of the Hindus, on January 23.
The parishad in a statement yesterday said the members of the Hindu community "wouldn't be able to exercise their franchise if the polling takes place on the day of Saraswati Puja".
