Reception to 25 retired DU teachers

Dhaka University Teachers' Association (Duta) yesterday accorded a reception to the 25 professors of the university who retired recently at a ceremony at the auditorium of the Teachers' and Students' Centre (TSC) of the university.

The retiring professors are: Dr. Abu Jafar Mahmud, Dr. A I F Mafizul Hannan, Dr. Sayed Hadiuzzaman, Dr. T I Majmadar, Dr. Sayed Md. Humayun Kabir, Dr. Gurur Begum, Dr. Muhammad Shafi, Dr. Abdul Ahad, Dr. Munirul Haque, Muhammad Mukhlesur Rahman Bhuyan, Dr. Faruk Ahmed and Mrs. Farida Banu, Manjurul Haque, of Science faculty; Dr. Muhammad Abul Kashem, Dr. Foizunnesa Begum, Dr. Habiba Khatun, Dr. Khandakar Rezaur Rahman, Dr. Sahera Khatun, Dr. Delwar Hossain, Dr. Abdul Momin Chowdhury of Arts Faculty; Mostofa Chowdhury of Political Science, Dr. Ashraf Ali of IER (Institute of Education and Research), Dr. Abdul Malek of Food and Nutrition Institute, A H M Abdul Hye of Institute of Modern Language and Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman of Finance and Banking department.

Departing DU teachers in the ceremony passionately recollected memories of their life on the campus. They also promised any type of service to the university, if needed.

Terming the outgoing colleagues 'producers of best intellectual products', DUTA Secretary Prof. Dr Akhtaruzzaman said, "We do not dare to repay the debt of their service to the university as well as to the nation, we just acknowledge their contribution".

DUTA President Prof. AAMS Arefin Siddique said that his outgoing colleagues have done the difficult task of building a matured intellect in matured person, coming to the university.

Vice Chancellor of DU SMA Faiz said that the professors have successfully completed only a phase of their service to the nation and still we can have guidance from these veteran persons. He pledged that DU authorities would extend library facilities and medical care to retired teachers.
