Release of RMG workers demanded

They expressed solidarity with Garments Sramik Sangram Parishad to stage a token hunger strike at Muktangan in the city at 10:00am on the Eid day.

At a press conference at its office in the city, they said the factory owners in connivance with the government have been filing new cases against the workers let alone fulfilling their demands.

They urged the owners to pay Eid bonus and stop harassment by police and threat by the local hoodlums.

Terming the newly enacted Labour Law 2006 'undemocratic', the leaders also demanded repeal of the law and implementation of the tripartite agreement.

SKSP Coordinator Shah Atiul Islam read out a written speech while SKSP leaders Dr Shamsul Alam, Abu Bakar Ripon, Jubran Ali Jewel, Golam Sattar, Golam Mostofa, Advocate Abdus Salam and Shahidul Islam Shabuj were present at the press conference.
