River vessel workers' strike from tonight
River vessel workers will go for countrywide indefinite strike from midnight tonight protesting the government's indifference to extortion, robbery and other criminal activities in inland waterways.
Noujan Sramik (river vessel workers) Federation decided to go for strike as the government ignored May 23 deadline to fulfil its nine-point demand that included deployment of river police in high-risk waterways to protect vessel workers, passengers and goods from pirates.
The federation will also hold a grand rally at Muktangon in the capital at 5:00pm tomorrow to realise its demands.

Federation leaders have urged all vessel workers to observe the strike and join the grand rally.
