RMCH doc ousts patient for showing Indian prescriptions

The patient submitted a written complaint to the RMCH director on Thursday evening demanding punishment of the doctor.

According to the complaint patient Akhil Saha, a retired pharmacist of RMCH, was admitted to the hospital after he became unconscious on July 1.

He was later shifted to Neurosurgeon Ward No 8 where Dr Lutfor Rahman was on duty.

The doctor allegedly misbehaved with the patient and his attendants including Ananda Kumar Saha, a teacher of Rajshahi University, as they showed him reports and prescriptions of an Indian hospital where he underwent treatment.

Anjana Saha, daughter of the patient, quoted the doctor as saying, " I usually do not attend those patients who have returned from Indian or other foreign hospitals."

"Later the doctor refused to examine my father and ordered his staffs to get us lost," she added.

Anjana further said it is painful that her father, also a freedom fighter, served thousands of patients in the hospital during past 30 years but he had no chance to receive treatment from there.

Dr Lutfor has denied the allegation and said, " I asked the patient to do some tests."

Hospital sources however said the doctor has record of misbehaviour with patients.
