RU students protest selection of new teacher
Several hundred students of Marketing department of Rajshahi University yesterday staged a demonstration on the campus protesting the selection of a teacher who was allegedly dismissed from International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) for immoral activities.
The agitating students also staged a two-hour sit-in programme in front of the administration building.
During the sit-in programme, agitating students blocked the entrances of the administration building and demanded immediate cancellation of the selection.

Later, they formed a human chain in front of the central library premises carrying placards and banners.
The students also threatened of an indefinite student strike if their demands are not met with in July 23, the date fixed for the next syndicate meeting.
His dismissal was confirmed at the 88th IIUC syndicate meeting held on September 26, 2005, sources claimed.
