RU teachers form human chain for killers' arrest

Hundreds of teachers, students and officials carrying placards and banners took part in the human chain.

Earlier, former Ruta President Prof Nazrul declared that Ruta would continue to form human chain on the Rajshahi-Dhaka highway every Saturday until their demands are met.

Rajshahi University (RU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) also took out a procession and held a meeting on the central library premises and demanded arrest and punishment of killers of the two RU teachers.

BCL leaders warned of tougher agitation against the BNP-Jamaat government if Prof Taher's alleged killer Shibir leader Salehi is not arrested and punished.

On Friday evening, Rajshahi Professionals Coordinating Council brought out a big procession in the city demanding immediate arrest of Salehi and speedy trial for the killings of two RU teachers.

They also held a meeting at Shaheb Bazar zero point with Council Convenor and former RU vice chancellor Prof Saidur Rahman Khan in the chair.
