RU to vacate all 15 halls during Eid
Campus sources said the provost council wants to enforce its decision from today and keep all the 15 dormitories vacated until November 1, fearing militant attack and violence on the campus.
They said the intelligence agencies on the campus apprehended that the militants might take shelter in the residential halls and carry out any terrorist attack during the long vacation.
The intelligence agencies had earlier cautioned the university authorities about possible militant attack on the campus during the vacation. They also held a closed door meeting with the Vice-Chancellor (VC) professor Altaf Hossain at his residence.
On the report of the intelligence agencies, the provost council held the emergency meeting in the provost office of Shah Mokhdum Hall with its Convener professor Abdul Latif in the chair, the sources added.
