Schoolboy killed, 36 hurt in road accidents
Our Cu Correspondent adds: A schoolboy was killed in a road accident at Mirzapur under Hathazari upazila in Chittagong yesterday.
The boy was identified as Joy Dev, 8.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Sources said, Joy Dev, a student of class two of Mirzapur Model Primary School, was hit by a city-bound pick-up van while he crossing the road at around 10:30am.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in the city where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Joy Dev, 8, son of Palash Dev, hailed from Mirzapur village under Hathazari upzila.
Our Correspondent from Satkhira reports: At least 36 people were injured when a bus skidded of the Satkhira- Assassuni road and fell into a ditch at Chiledanga in Assassuni upazila yesterday.
The injured include Assassuni upazila youth officer Azizul Haque, a staff of Assassuni upazila office Nurul Islam, Minati Rani, Kabir, Nur Islam Sana, Nepal Chandra Baidya, Shankar Sarkar, Sanajit Mondal, Mukul, Kader, Nargis Parvin, Asma Khatun, Anjuara, Suraiya Begum, Bellal, Abdullah, Sathi, Badrudozza and others.
The injured were admitted to a local clinic at Budhata. Of them, Nurul Islam, Azizul Haque, Shankar Sarkar and Nur Islam Sana were shifted to sadar hospital as their condition deteriorated.
Quoting local people police said the bus skidded of the roadside ditch as the driver lost control over the steering leaving at least 36 people injured.
