Semi-finals of inter-school English debate in Ctg today

The four semi-finalists -- William Carey Academy, Summer Fields School, Oxbridge International School and Bangladesh Elementary School -- will take part in two debate sessions at Sunshine Grammar School and College auditorium.

Organised by Drishty, a cultural organisation, the weeklong debate competition began on Tuesday. The Daily Star and the Mutual Trust Bank are the sponsors of the competition.

Quarter-finals of the contest was held at Taher Memorial Hall of Lions Foundation Institute on Wednesday where Child Heaven, Bay View, Mastermind and Radiant schools were defeated.

Farha Iqbal of Willam Carey Academy, Maliha Ahmed of Bay View School, Israfil Bin Rafiq of Mastermind School and Nafisa Iqbal of Radiant School were adjudged the best debaters in the quarter-finals.

Principal of Sunshine Grammar School and College Safia Gazi Rahman presided over the debates and the judges were Rosalyn Samira of USTC, Fuad Hasan of Chittagong University and debater Ferdous Ara.
