Seven killed, 15 injured in road accidents

At least seven people were killed and 15 injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet and Natore yesterday.

Staff Correspondent from Sylhet reports, four people were killed as a speeding vehicle hit an auto-rickshaw from the opposite direction at Brahmanshashon of Osmaninagar thana on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway early hours of yesterday.

The victims were identified as Kacha Miah,50 son of late Sonaullah of village Brahmongram, Abdul Aziz, 45, son of Anfor Ullah of village Nogorikapon and Jagodish, 50, of village Osmani nagar thana and Fokhrul Islam, 40, son of Mojomil Ali of village Swastipur under Nabiganj police station of Habiganj district.

The driver was admitted to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College hospital in a critical condition.

Police said the accident occurred at 4:00am and could not be ascertained whether the

killer vehicle was a truck or bus.

BDNEWS adds: Three people were killed and 15 others injured as a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch at Akdala on the Natore-Rajshahi highway yesterday.

Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at around 7:00am. Three passengers of the bus died on the spot.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them to the Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The injured were admitted to the Sadar Hospital and nearby clinics.

Two of the dead were identified as Aklima Khatun, 40, wife of Mozammel Hoque of Nazirpur village under Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi, and Hosne-Ara Khatun, 26, wife of Yasin Hossain of Modhubari village under Lalpur upazila in Natore. The identity of the other person could not be known.
