Shamsuddin new Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Ctg

Indonesian president has appointed AK Shamsuddin Khan, managing director of AK Group of Companies, as the New Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Chittagong by the Letter of Commission on May 10 in 2004, says a press release.

The Bangladesh government has approved the appointment of Shamsuddin and the "Exequatur" was handed over to him by the foreign minister on July 2 this year.

Warmas Hasan Saputra, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Dhaka, has officially handed over the Letter of Commission to Shamsuddin at a ceremony on August 15 at the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka.

Shamsuddin is an industrialist as well as member of different organisations: the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) and Bangladesh Jute Mills Owners' Association (BJMA). He was also president of Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association (BMFA).

He is the son of late Abul Kashem, former central minister for Industries, Works, Mineral Resources and Power of Pakistan.
