Shanta contradicts herself in two cases, say police
Police in a statement yesterday said Advocate Shahin Sultana Shanta, who was beaten up by the police on March 12, has filed two cases, but the statements in the cases contradict each other.
In the first case, Shanta mentioned that the police attempted to molest her while in the second case she said that they molested her, the police said.
"Shanta filed a case on March 14 under the Penal Code and filed another case under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act today (Sunday) providing contradictory statements," said the police.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The police also contradicted Shanta's claim that she went to bring her son Mehrab Afridi Moukim from his Dhanmondi Boys' School on March 12.
There is no student in that school by that name, they said in the statement.
The police also claimed that Shanta is the women affairs secretary of Ward 46 unit of Awami League.
