Students' barricade halts traffic in Ctg

They became agitated when the university-bound shuttle train halted abruptly due to a barricade put up on the rail track by agitating activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) CU unit.
Earlier the BCL men intercepted the shuttle train near Oxygen crossing area at around 9:00am.
They picked up the loco-master to detain him and hampered operation of the shuttle train for the three hours.
Getting stuck on the way the students immediately took to the street and put up a barricade on the road at the busy Oxygen intersection at around 10:00am.
It disrupted the road communication of the city with Hathazari, Nazirhat, Fatikchhari of the district as well as with the CHT districts of Khagrachhari and Rangamati.
Several hundred vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road due to the barricade and caused unbearable sufferings to hundreds of passengers of these routes.
It resulted in serious traffic congestions at the city's Sholoshahar and Muradpur intersections as well.
The barricade was withdrawn after two assistant proctors - Mohammad Zafor Ullah Talukder and AHM Selim Ullah, arrived at the spot and assured the students to take steps to ensure smooth and timely operation of the shuttle train.
