Supply of natural gas to Rajshahi demanded

Addressing a rally on the premises of Rajshahi Press Club premises, they also demanded that the attempt to lease out Rajshahi Sericulture Mills must be stopped.

The leaders said the government is making joke with Rajshahi people as it could not supply gas till date.

They said the city dwellers are facing unprecedented water and power shortage in the current season.

The leaders alleged that some ruling party cadres are trying to construct a multi-storied supermarket demolishing the building of silk industries.

They threatened to launch tougher agitation if the mill is destroyed.

They also demanded reopening of the silk factory for going into production.

Referring to people's outrage at Kansat and Shanir Akhra, the leaders threatened to launch similar movement and called upon citizens to stop payment of water tax.

Presided over by city unit President Mahfuzul Hasnine Hikol, the rally was addressed by district unit President Ashraful Haque Tota, General Secretary Tofazzal Hossain, city unit Secretary Anwar Imtiaz and Organising Secretary Abu Taher.

Earlier, a procession was brought out that paraded different city streets.
