Three killed in road accidents

Our Correspondent from Satkhira adds: Two people were killed in separate road accidents on Sunday night in the district.

The dead were identified as Hazrat Ali, 30 son of Ali Gazi of village Bakra in Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore and Abdul Hamid, 35, son of Nawab Ali of village Nawab Ali of Haroddah village in Sadar upazila.

Hazrat succumbed to his injuries at Khulna hospital and Hamid died at Sadar upazila hospital.

Hazrat was injured seriously when a motorbike hit him on the Shakdah bridge on Kazirhat-Sharashkati road in Kalaroa upazila while Hamid sustained serious injuries when a truck knocked him down on Kakshiali bridge on Satkhira-Kaliganj upazila.

Our Correspondent from Brahmanbaria reports: One person was killed and eight others were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Islampur village under Sadar upazila on Sunday night.

The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound private car coming from Sylhet and a tractor coming from opposite direction collided and fell into a roadside ditch at Shashai Islampur, police and hospital sources said.

Nine people were injured in the accident. Of the injured, one Ashique Ahmed, 35, succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital and six others -- Atikullah, 35, Md Manik, 30, Mafizur Rahman, 50, Arife Ahmed, 30, Saheda Rahman, 45, and Ali Ahmed, 32, were admitted to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition and two others released after first aid.
