Tk 1.55 lakh fake notes seized, four arrested
Tipped off, Rab members raided the Hotel Tower near Kamalapur Railway Station at about 12:00 noon yesterday and arrested Md Atiqur Rahman alias Mamun, 30, and Moniruzzaman Milon, 35, with 200 notes of Tk 500 denomination from Room No.-70 on the 6th floor.
In another incident, the Rab members arrested Md Shakil Mollah, 26, with nine fake notes of Tk 500 denomination from Mizmizi at Siddhirganj at about 2:30pm on Friday.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Acting on his confession, they also arrested Jasim, 28, with 102 notes of Tk 500 denomination near the footbridge near Zia International Airport at 9:00pm the same day.
In another incident, the Rab arrested Ebadullah, Jewel, Iqbal and Kabir along with a foreign revolver, a 9-mm pistol and four empty cartridges yesterday.
The Rab arrested the four after the passengers of a trawler in the Baluchhara river at Nalchhata village under Khilgaon Police Station caught hold of them as they tried to extort money, said a Rab press release.
