Tower Hamlet Council team calls on PM

A three-member delegation of Tower Hamlet Council, led by its Mayor Doros Ullah, made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at her office yesterday.

Other members of the delegation are Abdus Shukur, deputy leader of Tower Hamlet

Council, and Ohid Ahmed, a cabinet member of the council.

The delegation lauded development in various sectors, particularly in infrastructure, health and education in Bangladesh.

Congratulating for their election and involvement in the local government system of the UK, Khaleda urged the delegation members to help enhance Bangladesh's image by their activities and also portray the home country's culture and heritage whenever they get the scope.

She told them to beware that the new generation of Bangladesh origin does not become isolated from the Bangladesh's tradition and culture.

The Tower Hamlet Council delegation is in the capital for last two weeks at the invitation of Dhaka city mayor.
