Two edible oil factories fined Tk 3.5 lakh in Ctg
The court also imposed restriction on selling oil that was contained in storage tank of the factories.
The mobile court, led by Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) Magistrate Munir Chowdhury, found that Shah Amanat Oil Refinery Limited and Samanna's Super Oil Industries were manufacturing and marketing super oil, palm oil and vegetable oil without any license from Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute (BSTI) and without paying revenue.
The super oil and palm oil were being sold across the country in drums without any brand name.
On the other hand, the palm oil was being sold as super vegetable oil naming 'Appayan' brand in tin containers, sources said.
The court also found unhygienic and dirty condition at different points of the factories.
BSTI officials and Chittagong metropolitan police assisted the mobile court during the drive.
