Two killed, 33 injured in Sirajganj road mishaps

Two people were killed and 33 others injured, six of them critically, in separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Uttaranchal highway at Nalka and Kaddar intersection areas in Sirajganj yesterday.

Moneza Khatun, 45, and her granddaughter Morgina, 7, of Aranda village in Solonga thana died on the spot at 10:00am, when a speeding bus hit a rickshaw from behind at Nalka in Raiganj upazila, police said.

Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. They sent the bodies to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, 33 people were injured when a Dhaka-bound coach skidded off the road and fell into a ditch as the driver lost control over the steering at Koddar More area.

Of the injured, 27 were taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment while six others were admitted to Ausinea Hospital in the town in critical condition.
