Two killed in road accidents

Our correspondent in Barisal reports: A collision between a bus and a truck left one person dead and 15 others injured at Babuganj on Barisal-Dhaka highway in the morning.

The Dhaka-bound bus collided head-on with the truck near Barisal Cadet College at around 6:00am, leaving Nur-e-Alam, 35, dead, police and witnesses said.

Seriously injured Md Sohag, 25, Enamul Haq, 28, Ruma, 25, and her daughter are now undergoing treatment at Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.

UNB adds: A truck driver was killed and 13 people were injured in a collision between a bus and a truck on Daulatdia-Khulna highway near Goalando crossing early yesterday.

The Khulna-bound bus from Dhaka collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck at about 4:00am, killing driver Hasu, 45, and injuring the truck helper and 12 bus passengers, police and witnesses said.

Police said the accident occurred due to dense fog.

The injured were rushed to the Faridpur Hospital.
