A two-day education fair tiled 'Qualifications @ UK Fair 2005' began here in the port city yesterday.

Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury inaugurated the fair as chief guest at Hotel Agrabad.

The British Council (BC) Bangladesh organised the fair with a view to disseminating information about admission to different educational institutions in the United Kingdom (UK).

Chittagong Government Veterinary College Principal Dr Nitish Chandra Debnath was the special guest at inauguration of the fair where as many as 20 British educational institutions participated.

The fair drew hundreds of students interested in higher study in the UK and other countries.

The organisers at the ceremony said the fair aimed at bringing the education providers of both Bangladesh and the UK together to help students choose institutions for higher study.

It provided a platform for different educational institutions to put up the service and the options they offer, and students to have the answers of their queries.

Saifuzzaman urged the delegates of different universities and colleges of the UK to arrange scholarships for Bangladeshi students.

Simon Hunt, director of the BC in Chittagong made the address of welcome at the seminar.
