UN Day tomorrow
Bangladesh joins the rest of the world in celebrating the United Nations Day on October 24 marking the 61st founding anniversary of the United Nations (UN).
The UN officially came into being soon after the end of the World War-II on October 24, 1945.
Prime Minister Khaleda Zia in a message on the occasion expressed her government's firm commitment to the objectives and principles of the UN charter.
She said since its inception 61 years ago, the UN has been working for promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms, fighting against deadly diseases, advancing initiatives for sustainable development, combating transnational crimes and terrorism and ensuring peace through peacekeeping.
