They were speaking at a rally at Muktangan in the city yesterday to mark the Anti-Corruption Day.

The leaders sought people's mandate for their projected 23-point programme to resolve the ongoing crises of the country.

Harun Chowdhury, a politburo member of Samyabadi Dal, said people suffered to the last limit of tolerance due to misrule and corruption of the ruling alliance government.

Mass explosion against the government is now spreading fast --from Kansat to the capital -- and it will soon engulf the whole country, he added.

President of Ganotantry Party Nurul Islam said the regime has corrupted each and every valued institution of the state: the Election Commission, the Judiciary, the Public Service Commission, the police, the educational institutions and even the Anti-Corruption Commission.

Advocate Jahirul Islam, presidium member of Gono Forum, said the government has prepared an imaginary voter list with one crore and 65 lakh fake voters with a view to ensuring their victory in the upcoming general election.

Convener of 11-party Abdus Salam presided over the rally while General Secretary of Workers' Party Bimol Bishwas, Abu Hanif Shahabuddin of Samyabadi Dal, Jakir Hossain of Gonotantrik Mojdur Party and Nurur Rahman Salim of Gono Azadi Party also spoke on the occasion.
