Unite to overcome present crisis
People are now worried about their security as the judiciary, an organ of the constitution, is under attack, he said at a discussion marking the 29th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani.
Maulana Bhashani always spoke for peasants, workers and the oppressed people, he said, adding that "His speech has inspired us." If he were alive today, he also would call for unity, said Dr Kamal.
"We have to unite for the interest of the nation as well as future generations," he added.
The Jatiya Party (JP-Monju) organised the discussion at the National Press Club.
JP Chairman Anwar Hossain Monju said the political parties have failed to show the people the right way towards a better life. Politics in the country has been caught in a whirlwind, he added.
There should be different opinions in politics, but the political parties must focus on the welfare of people, Monju said.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Huq Inu and JP Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam also spoke.
