Universal edn policy demanded

Chhatra Sangram Parishad, a conglomerate of seven pro-opposition student organisations, yesterday put forward an 11-point demand, including formulation of a universal education policy based on science and technology.

The BCL-led Sangram Parishad was earlier known as "Anti-Communalism and Anti-Terrorism Alliance."

The Parishad came up with the charter of demands at a press conference at Madhu's Canteen.

Other demands include establishing rights of student community and ensuring employment, protecting national history and heritage, ensuring democratic practice, rule of law and human rights, reforms in caretaker government system and election commission, independent Anti-Corruption Commission and implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tract Peace Agreement.

The re-organised student alliance consists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chhatra League (JSD), Jatiya Chhatra Dhara, Chhatra Oikya, Chhatra Moitri, Chhatra Kendra and Chhatra Samity.
