Valuables worth Tk 6.61 lakh looted in Barisal

A gang of robbers yesterday looted at least Tk 6 lakh from a house at Rajachar village in the Sadar upazila in the early hours of yesterday.

Police and family members said the gang entered the house of Swapan Kumar Sheel, a village doctor, at the dead of night.

The robbers beat up and injured at least eight people, including Swapan Kumar along with his son and brother, as they tried to resist them. The robbers then looted the valuables holding the family members at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, burglars looted valuables worth Tk 61000 from a house in Kownia main road area on the same day.

One Bidhan Chandra Das said the burglars broke into the house breaking window grills and took away gold ornaments and furniture.
