Varsity, college students need improvement in English

The workshop began with a brief presentation of a survey conducted by JST during October-November 2005 regarding the importance of learning English. The results showed that 99.8 percent of 477 university and college students surveyed felt it necessary to improve their English language skills.

JST also presented data on language requirements for the job market that indicated English competency to be a general requirement.

Imran Rahman, associate professor, Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University, was the guest speaker at the workshop.

Students of Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka College, Borhanuddin College, Jagannath College and Eden College and professionals and academics took part in the workshop.
