Verdict Sept 22

A Dhaka court yesterday fixed September 22 for verdict in the Arms case against Arman Khan, one of the 23 most wanted criminals of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

This is the first time that a court is going to deliver the verdict against Arman.

After hearing on arguments from the prosecution and the defence, Judge Mohammad Rabiul Hasan of the Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court fixed the date.

Earlier, the court recorded statements of 15 prosecution witnesses, including complainant Sub-Inspector Abdur Rouf of Rab-4.

Arman was produced before the court from Kashimpur Jail amid tight security.

A team of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-4 arrested Arman from his residence at Dhanmondi in the city on June 4. The team also recovered three firearms, 146 bullets and three mobile phones from his possession.

Arman had been on remand for 31 daysthe first 10 days in an arms case and the next 20 days in three unknown murder cases filed with Motijheel, Khilgaon and Mirpur Police Stations.

Later, he was sent to the Dhaka Central Jail on July 6.
