Vow to resist Jamaat-Shibir politics

Wearing black badges on chest, leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) brought out a silent procession on the campus at 11:00am.

It was followed by a rally in front of old arts faculty building.

Speakers at the rally vowed to resist any sectarian activities on the campus.

JU JCD President Parvez Mallick and General Secretary Nazmul Hasan Obhee addressed the rally.

Shaheed Salam Barkat Hall authorities held a milad mahfil after Maghrib prayers at the dormitory mosque while JCD held another one at the university central mosque after Asr prayers.

Habibur Rahman Kabir, a JCD activist, sustained serious injuries in an attack by Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) on August 15, 1989.

He succumbed to his injuries on August 26 prompting the leaders of JCD and Bangladesh Chhatra League to announce the ban of shibir politics on the campus.
