Warm clothes for cold-hit demanded

In a joint statement, CPB President Manjurul Ahsan Khan and acting general secretary Md Shah Alam said the sufferings of the hungry people of northern region have been multiplied manifold due to ongoing cold wave.

Under the present situation, the government should extend all-out assistance including distribution of warm clothes to the distressed people, they said.

But so far the government did not take any effective measures in this regard, the leaders alleged.

They called upon the affluent people of the society to join the on going warm clothes distribution programme of CPB by depositing old clothes and cash to its central office to help mitigate the sufferings of the cold-hit people.
