WFP donates capacity building equipment

The technical assistance would facilitate the work of the ministry to improve the quality of life of the poorest especially women and children at the most food insecure regions in Bangladesh, says a press release.

The representative of WFP Douglas Broderick officially handed over the capacity building equipments to the Director General of Food Zahid Hossain at WFP office in the city.

"This reconfirmed our continued support to the people of Bangladesh and strong partnership with the Government in its efforts in fighting hunger and malnutrition," Douglas said.

The support would improve the food delivery services to the Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) programme, which covers four million ultra poor people living in the poorest and most food insecure regions in the country.

WFP has been working in Bangladesh for 30 years to help its people attain food security. The VGD is WFP's largest empowerment and poverty reduction activity that exclusively targets ultra poor rural women.
