Tax lawyers urge govt
Tax lawyers yesterday urged the government to withdraw the opportunity for money whitening through buying plots, apartments, flats and cars in the proposed budget as it would promote the interests of corrupt people.
In a post-budget press briefing organised by Jatiya Kar Ainjibi Samity, they suggested for bringing the NGOs under the tax-net saying these organisations have lost their non-profit and non-partisan character.
Terming the lowering of punishment to tax-evaders illogical, the leaders demanded tougher provision for them.
