Woman, 4-yr-old daughter killed in Khulna

She was identified as Rashida Begum, 26, wife of the owner of the shrimp enclosure Atiar Rahman.

The criminals also killed her four-year old daughter Ashura on the same night.

Police recovered the bodies yesterday morning from the shrimp enclosure.

According to police, the gang rape followed by murders was committed in absence of Atiar Rahman. Both Rashida and her minor daughter were strangled, police said.

According to OC Fazlul Huq of Dumuria Police Station, the minor girl was killed as she had witnessed the gang rape and murder of her mother.

Police arrested one person suspecting his involvement in the incident. He was identified as Sanjoy Mondol.

Police quoted Atiar Rahman as saying that the arrested person would often tease Rashida and offer for illicit relation with him.

Khulna Police Super Nazmul Alam visited the place of occurrence at 10:00am yesterday.

Atiar lodged FIR in this connection with Dumuria Police Station naming Sanjoy Mondol and unidentified others as accused of double murders.
