Women leaders submit memo to CEC

Samajik Protirodh Committee, a platform of 38 women and human rights organisations, yesterday submitted a memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner Dr ATM Shamsul Huda.

With a view to realising their 16-point demand, the Protirodh committee leaders emphasised a free, fair, impartial and timely election.

The leaders termed their step as a part of their ongoing movement for the involvement of women in all spheres of decision-making process that originates from the right to vote.

The CEC listened to their demands and promised to take necessary steps in this regard. The election commissioners Sohul Hossain and Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain were also present.

Mahila Parishad General Secretary Ayesha Khanam, Dr Hamida Hossain of Ain o Salish Kendra, Selina Khaleq of Bangladesh Mahila Samity, Ranjan Karmakar of the Steps and Rokeya Rafiq of Karmojibi Nari were among the representatives who went to submit the memorandum.
