Work resumes at Akhaura land port

Due to indefinite strike called by Eastern Custom Superintendents and Inspectors Association of India, activities at 10 land ports including Akhaura came to a standstill.

Sources said, the association called the strike for an indefinite period after Indian militants abducted two Indian custom officials from Gasua land port of India on April 26.

Owing to the strike, Akhaura land port incurred a loss of revenue worth about Tk 6 crore, source said.

The port will start functioning in full sewing from today.
