Their other demands include announcement of wage commission and its implementation, allocation of fund for purchasing raw jute and payment of arrear medical allowance and other financial benefits.

Later, they brought out a truck procession with sticks and empty earthen plates in their hands that paraded through main roads of the city.

The procession was led by labour leader Sarder Motaharuddin, convenor of Khulna-Jessore Regional Committee of 'Pat, Shuta and Bastrakal Sramik-Karmachari Sangram Parishad'.

They will bring out processions on May 24 at Khalishpur and Atra Industrial belts, hold rallies on May 26 and put up barricades on roads and railways on May 29 as part of their movement to realise eight-point demands.

Meanwhile, security forces have been put on high alert at Khalishpur following an abortive attempt by angry workers to set official residence of DGM of Platinum Jubilee Jute Mill on Saturday night.
