World Food Day today
The World Food Day will be celebrated across the globe today, marking the founding anniversary of the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (Fao).
Agriculture and intercultural dialogue are the themes of the day.
"As World Food Day 2005 is celebrated, more than 850 million people around the world remain hungry," Michael Hage, the North American regional information officer for Fao, discussed some of the events taking place at an October 13 briefing at the US Foreign Press Centre in New York, a message received here yesterday said.
