2 bombs recovered, another explodes

Police recovered two live bombs after a bomb went off at a poor woman's house at remote Joypur Mastarpara village in Sapahar upazila in Naogaon district yesterday.

The woman-- Belly--was injured in the hand in the explosion, police said.

Belly saw a bag on the roof of her thatched house when she was bringing down firewood for cooking in the morning. As she untied the bag, she saw three small tin containers strapped with red tapes.

Suspecting these to be bombs, she threw away the bag. One of the bombs exploded, injuring her.

On information, police rushed there and recovered the two other live bombs.

Officer-in-Charge of Sapahar police station Aminul Islam told this correspondent that the incident is being investigated.

He said criminals or Islamist militants now on the run following police drive might have kept the bombs there.

On May 4, two bombs went off injuring a minor girl at Chalk Ramakanta village in Manda upazila in the district.
