2 to die for murder in Satkhira
A court here yesterday sentenced two people to death for killing a jewelry shop owner.
The District and Sessions Judge, Satkhira, Ashis Kumar Das delivered the judgement in a crowded court in presence of the accused.
The convicts are Abu Bakar son of Taser Ali and Afsar Ali son of Ahmad Ale of village Abadchandipur in Shyamnagar upazila.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. According to court sources, a group of robbers raided a jewelry shop owned by Amjad Ali at Nakipur Bazar in Shyamnagar upazila at dead of night on Mach 17 in 2002.
As Amjad resisted the robbers they chopped him with sharp weapons.
The night guards caught a robber, Abu Bakar, while the others decamped with the booties.
Amjad Ali succumbed to injuries while being taken to Satkhira hospital.
