2 get life for murder

The convicts are Masud, 30, and Ansarul Haque, 35. Each of them was fined Tk 5,000, in default, to suffer three months more RI.

The case story in brief is that Shamsuzzaman Manik, son of Abul Kalam Azad of village Balijuri in Bhaluka upazila was chopped to death by a gang of criminals at a fair at village Mukhi in Gafargoan upazila on July, 12, 1994.

Later, Abul Kalam Azad, father of the victim filed a case with Gafargaon Police Station accusing nine persons. The criminal investigation department (CID) framed charges against six persons.

After examining witnesses and evidences, additional district and sessions judge Aminul Islam handed down the verdict acquitting four others of the charge.
