AL sees it as stunt,Jamaat says it is a BNP decision
Former secretary of Khulna city BNP Nazrul Islam Manju hailed Ershad's decision, saying it will "benefit" the alliance.
"The four-party alliance will get stronger for retaining power if Ershad sticks to his decision", Manju said while talking to this correspondent on Saturday.
But Khulna city Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Main Golam Parwar however said Tarique Rahman (senior joint secretary of BNP) should have consulted central leaders of Jamaat and other components of the four-party alliance before holding a meeting with Ershad. "It is BNP's decision", he said.
General secretary of Khulna city Awami League Mizanur Rahman Mizan termed BNP's move to include JP in the alliance 'nothing but a new political drama'.
"The drama is being staged as they (four-party alliance) have become concerned at seeing the massive participation of people in our road march programmes. BNP move for a stunt in vote politics with Ershad will not work", he said.
But the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) did not make any comment. President of Khulna city CPB advocate Feroze Ahmed said, "We are not interested in who is joining which party and why", the CPB leaders said.
