UP chairman held by joint forces in Assassuni
Anulia Union Parishad (UP) chairman and former Assassuni thana Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president Ruhul Quddus was arrested by joint forces from his house at Assassuni upazila on Monday.
Police told this correspondent a group of miscreants led by Quddus armed with deadly weapons attacked and damaged a hatchery at Hijlion in Assassuni upazila for refusal of its owner to pay toll amounting to Tk 50,000 on February 20. They also beat up its staff.
Quddus was placed on five-day remand by the magistrate on Wednesday.
