CHT dists to observe Indigenous Day

The International Indigenous Day will be observed today in Rangamati and Khagrachhari.

Our Rangamati Correspondent reports: Different socio-cultural and women organisations chalked out programmes to mark the day.

Rangamati Adibasi Dibas Udjapan Committeee, a committee for observance of International Indigenous Day, will bring out a colorful procession from the Pourasabha office premises at 9 am. It will be followed by a discussion at the Shilpakala Academy.

Eminent educationist BK Dewan, will inaugurate the procession. Prothom Alo resident editor Abul Momen and woman leader Shila Momen are expected to attend. Rangamati unit of Stop Violence Against Women (SVAW), a woman organisation, will organise a rally and hold a roundtable to mark the day.

Our Khagrachhari Corres-pondent reports: Khagrachhari Parbatya Zila Nagorik Committee in a press release said the day will be observed here by bringing out a colourful procession at 9-30 am and a meeting at Larma Square at 10 am on the day.
