Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haque Inu yesterday said success of the on-going dialogue between Awami League (AL) and BNP will depend on the good humour of BNP chief and Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

The demand for reform of caretaker government and electoral system for holding a free and fair election are justified and needed for consolidating democracy, he said while addressing a party workers meeting at a city hotel.

It was also addressed by JSD secretary Syed Zafar Sajjad and central leaders Main Uddin Khan Badal, Sharif Nurul Aumbia, Shirin Akhtar, Iqbal Hossain Khan and Nazmul Haque, 14-party Mymensingh district coordinator Motiur Rahman, Awami League leader Prof Amir Ahmed Chowdhury Ratan and Nazrul Islam. District JSD president Gias Uddin was in the chair.

Inu alleged that BNP and Jamaat have prepared a blue print to retain power by holding a mock election without reforms. To implement it, they have politicised the adminmistration and placed their men in key posts.

So, reforms must be made to hold a free election, the JSD leader said. He said reforms can be made without emending the Constitution if the ruling parties have good intention. This will benefot the people and the nation.

He said fair election will not be held with Justice KM Hasan as chief of caretaker government and Justice MA Aziz as chief election commissiner.

He urged leaders and activists of 14-party alliance to prepare for tougher agitation to realise the demands if the dialogue fails.

JSD leaders and activists of from Mymensingh, Sherpur, Jamalpur, Kishoreganj, Netrokona and Tangail attended the rally.
